Measles in Bangladesh
As of 5 May 2026, a total of 5,467 confirmed measles cases and 41,793 suspected cases with 259 deaths have been reported in Bangladesh for 2026. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on measles.
Dengue in Tonga
As of 5 May 2026, a total of 56 confirmed dengue cases have now been reported in Tonga. The highest number of cases have been reported from Tongatapu Island. Dengue virus serotype 2 (DENV-2) has been confirmed. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on dengue.
Hantavirus - unknown origin
As of 6 May 2026, a total of eight hantavirus cases (three confirmed) associated with a cruise ship have now been reported by the World Health Organization. The type of virus in this outbreak has been confirmed as Andes hantavirus. Risk to the global population is low.
Mpox in Luxembourg
Between April 2025 and March 2026, one clade I mpox case was reported in Luxembourg. This is the first clade I mpox case reported in Luxembourg. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on mpox.
cVDPV2 in Australia
On 1 May 2026, an environmental detection of circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2 (cVDPV2) from a wastewater sample was reported in Perth, Western Australia. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on polio.
Mpox in Denmark
On 27 April 2026, the number of confirmed clade Ib mpox cases in Denmark has increased to four. One case has reported no travel history abroad, indicating locally acquired infection. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on mpox.
Mpox in Poland ex Slovakia
On 13 April 2026, the first detection of clade I mpox in Poland was confirmed. The clade subtype is unspecified. The case is an adult male who had a travel history to Slovakia. Yellow fever in Ecuador
On 25 April 2026, Ecuador's Ministry of Health reported a fatal human case of yellow fever in an 11-year-old child in Joya de los Sachas Canton, Orellana Province. Mpox in Madagascar
