Cholera in Malawi
Between 1 January and 16 February 2026, a total of 828 suspected cholera cases, with 87 confirmed cases and two deaths, have been reported. Currently Blantyre is reporting the highest number of cases, followed by Lilongwe, Kasungu, Neno and Chikwawa. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on cholera.

As of 17 January 2026, there have been 280 suspected cases including 31 confirmed cases across nine districts. The majority (eight cases) have been in Blantyre, followed by Neno and Balaka with one case each. See our Topics in Brief article for further details on cholera.
